Company Culture

Welcome Wednesday: Kristela Kaja

This week we get to know a little more about Kristela Kaja, an explorer from Albania, who is part of our Cloud Native Application Development team.

Kristela enjoys discovering new places and learning about new cultures, she is a student of the Computer Science Master’s Degree program of the University of Saarland, and she is incredibly talented and displays great leadership skills.

Her path looks brilliant from where we are standing, and we can already foresee that this “bug” hunter will go far and as fast as an F1 car.

1- We are thrilled you have joined us Kristela, can you please introduce yourself?

My name is Kristela Kaja and I am a working student at anynines and a Master’s Degree student at the University of Saarland.

I am a newbie in the Computer Science area, but I enjoy using my knowledge to contribute to daily technological matters at anynines.

2- Can you please tell us more about your studies?

My educational background and work experiences are divided into two phases and countries.

I graduated from the University of Tirana with a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science in my home country, Albania. In the last semester of my Bachelor, I started an internship in a company,  where later I became a full-time employee.

Since the beginning, my prime focus was software development. At the time I had the chance to work with technologies as SAP ABAP and C.

After a one year experience, I decided to go back to my studies but this time abroad. I am continuing my Master’s in Computer Science in Saarbrücken. Indeed, working is something I enjoy therefore I joined anynines.

3- What does your path look like until now?

My Computer Science path started before joining the university with random small programs (My first “Hello World”).

I enjoyed the developing part but also bug hunting, which of course at the time bugs were just nonsense challenging errors to me.

While studying I realised coding is just a snippet in the Tech industry, nevertheless my favourite snippet until now.

As time went by I enriched my background further, however, there is always something to learn, especially in a daily developing industry.

4- What are you doing when you are not working?

If I am not working/studying you can probably find me out there exploring.

Perks of moving to a new country, there is always a new place to visit, new words to learn and a new culture to adapt to. In my serene days, I prefer watching documentaries and Formula 1 updates.

5- As Germany is a new country for you, where are you originally from?

As mentioned above, my home country is Albania. It is located in the Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe.

6- What would people love about Albania and why should they go there?

Although Albania is a small country, it offers different multiple types of activities. In addition, it is scenic, historic and inexpensive by Western standards.

The Albanian Riviera and the Alps are well known for their beauty. On top of that Albanians are very welcoming particularly to foreigners.

7- How did you hear about anynines? And what was your motivation for joining us?

My first contact with anynines was at a job fair organized by the University of Saarland. At the fair, I was informed about anynines’ technologies, values, mission and services.

What attracted my attention in the first place was their working culture and mission. I got the impression I would be a good fit at anynines. From a technical point of view, the used technologies were mostly new to me. This was a chance to learn new skills.

Working at anynines was my opportunity to begin a new challenge in my career in a well-suited working environment.

8- What can you tell people, who are considering anynines as an employer?

Anyone that is looking for a welcoming and fun working place, and at the same time colleagues willing to support you, should consider anynines as their future environment to contribute to the Computer Science area.

9- What will you tell people who are interested in Computer Science?

Computer Science has a huge benefit because it offers you two main choices.

On one hand, you can choose one specific field and become very good at it, on the other, you can explore new areas and never get bored working.

The beginning is the most beautiful, and also difficult, part that will allow you to turn your passion into your career.  In my opinion, this is a privilege in life that we are lucky to have.
